11:30 a.m.--1:30p.m.
This past Friday, i went up to Gwinnett to visit Empire Beauty School. My appointment was at 11:30 and i was there a bit early than that, so i had to wait until the person i was seeing (Dana) was finished up with another person. While me and my mother was waiting, we seen everything that was going on. I thought the place was going to look like a regular school, but it was way different from what i thought. It was a salon up front and in the back was two class rooms, lockers, and a eating place when they go on break. Just about everyone within the salon part was doing someone hair, some were cutting, straightening, curling, perming, doing nails, and shampooing. The lady that was doing the perm was on the older woman hair for a long time. When doing a perm for a salon, it's suppose to take you 10 minutes.
After looking a the lady doing the perm, Dana who i visiting for my interview, came and greeted me and my mother and we went inside her office. She was telling me all about everything they do and how they help you when you are done with their classes. She showed me three out of the seven dolls i will get. The three dolls she showed me was man doll with facial hair, an Asian girl doll, and an black doll. Her point of showing me the dolls were their texture of hair and how each doll have a different type of hair that i would have to learn how work with. Dana asked me why i wanted to do hair and i really couldn't give her an straight answer because i really couldn't think, then she told me after the tour she was bout to give us, i should have an answer.
There were people in the classroom that was doing each other hair, and some were showing other the correct way of doing something. The classroom are like regular classrooms with desk, board, and of course a teacher. In the salon part of Empire Beauty School they had a place for nails, shampooing hair, hair-dryers, make-up chair, and a place where the hair styling goes down. Then we went back to her office and she asked me why do i want to do hair and i told her they was like a family, they worked well together, and it was something i always wanted to do, it's in my blood my mother and sister did hair and it fit my description of doing hair. I can see myself succeeding in hair and making people feel good about their selves.
