Beowulf Dies!

The way that Beowulf died was probably painful for him to get bit by a huge dragon. The way that he dies i really don't like. He was a good man and i thought he should have been able to still live. He could have just had an injury and retire from fighting things, let one of the warrior take his place. Well hearing that Beowulf was a old man trying to fight a dragon. He should have stayed at home or something. It wasn't his fight to fight the dragon since he didn't steal the dragon gold. "Then the terrible dragon third time rushed, hot and battle-grim. He bit Beowulf's neck with sharp tusks--Beowulf was wet with life's blood;blood gushed in waves." Maybe he deserved to die and it was his time to go since He thought he could fight everything. Maybe he thought he was that young Beowulf that no one could defeat in a fight and he finally found his match maker and got hisself killed over something he didnt have anything to do with.

Compared Beowulf to other Heroes stories

Compared to this story, where Beowulf was from he was the big hero. As in any other stories most of the heroes always ending up dying or getting hurt. People like Beowulf wants to fight for the right things and help people out. (Compare him to spider-man). Spider-man flew around helping people when his spider senses went tingling. Beowulf went helping people when he heard something bad was happening somewhere he knew of.

"I feared no one.I awaited my destiny well:never did I plot a quarrel, never did I swear an unjust oath.I take joy in this, despite a mortal wound. The Ruler of Mankind will not charge that I murdered a kinsman when my life departs this body(Beowulf)". Spider-man and Batman, didn't fear anyone just as Beowulf didn't fear anyone. The difference with Beowulf is that he prayed that God will always be there with him through what ever fight he was going up against. I've never seen Batman or Spider-man pray in there movies.

October 15, 2008 i went back to Georgia Institute of Cosmetology again and it was the same as the last Monday when i went. First of all i just sat there and observed, watched to people cut some customer hair. One of the instructors was highlighting someone hair. One of the students was coloring a doll hair a red-ish color, it was cute. They didn't have much business going on because they was a getting ready to take their state exams to get their cosmetology license. But their exams wasn't the real one, it was a practice exam so they could be prepared for the real one which they take in Macon, Ga. Mrs. Shelly showed me their classroom and she's an instructor. After that i went back to observing the others and after they was getting ready for their test i left. I didn't want to be in their way. So really nothing went on much.

Anglo-Saxon's culture!&& How Beowulf Illustrated It!

Beowulf was a true warrior. He did whatever he felt that was right. The Anglo-Saxon is described as invading different tribes in the East and South of Great Britain. Beowulf illustrate what the Anglo-Saxons believed, By him going to Herot to fight Grendel because they really couldn't handle him. "Beowulf, leader of the host unlatched his word-hoard:"As to kin, we are of the Geat nation, Hygelac's hearth-companions. I may advise Hrothgar how he, wise and famous, may overcome this enemy--if change will ever come, relief from this evil--and how this seething sorrow might become cool. Otherwise, he will suffer tribulation as long as he lives in that high place, the best of houses." Beowulf was willing to help Hrothgar out, from some bad monster that was killing his people in Herot.

"The Romans were very good at protecting Britain from invaders with their technologically advanced military." How the Romans protected Britain from invaders is just like Beowulf protecting Herot from that big monster "Grendel". When the Romans left Britain with no protection in A.D 409. When Beowulf died, he left Hrothgar and others without his protection. He had died for them and to keep them safe from the dragon, Grendel and his mother. Beowulf showed that he was loyal and he was also going to fight for the right thing no matter if he defeat what's he fighting or die while fighting it. He was going to do it and no one could change his decisions once they are made up.

-Think about what you know about the Anglo-Saxon's culture. How well does Beowulf illustrate what the Anglo-Saxons believed? Give at least three separate examples, and back them up with direct evidence from the poem

--Animism (soul, life) commonly refers to a religious belief that souls or spirits exist in animals, plants and other entities, in addition to humans

--The Celts believed that spirits were in animals, which can be taken to the story. Grendel was some type of animal or something. He nor his mother was human.

12 episodes of Beowulf

Beowulf was a warrior of Hygelac's and he heard of the Grendel's and what he was doing. Beowulf was the strongest of men of that day, he was mighty and noble. He wanted to help the king fight against this man. Beowulf and fourteen brave warrior loaded the ships and had bright weapons and fitted armor. As they landed on shore one Of Grendel warrior came and asked who they were. And Beowulf spoke up and said,"As to kin, we are of the Geat nation, Hygelac's hearth-companions. My father was a leader well known among the people: Edgtheow. He stayed many winters before he went away, aged, from the court. We have come with friendly hearts to see your lord, Healfdene's son, protector of the people.Be good counsel to us:we have come on a great errand to the king of the Danes. Perhaps in kindness I may advise Hrothgar how he, wise and famous, may overcome this enemy--if change will ever come, relief from this evil--and how this seething sorrow might become cool. Otherwise, he will suffer tribulation as long as he lives in that high place, the best of houses."

The man on the horse let them through to pay the Hrothgar a visit. The came upon a man by the name Wulfgar and he told Hrothfar that Beowulf wanted to speak with him and do not refuse the request. Hrothfar knew Beowulf father and wanted to welcome them in. Beowulf spoke with Hrothfar and asked if he could fight Grendel. Hrothgar said these words:"Never, since I have been able to lift shield, have I entrusted this hall, this mighty house of the Danes, to any man.But now I entrust it to you.Have and hold this best of houses.Keep fame in mind, watch against the foe, and make your valor known! You shall lack nothing if you survive this deed." So those words coming out of his mouth was a response that he could fight Grendel.

As Beowulf went to bed his warriors thought he wouldn't see home again because no one has survived again Grendel. Grendel enter the hall and seen all the warriors and thought to his self that he could rip out the life of each one of them. "Grendel's spirit was afraid and his heart eager to get away, to flee to his hiding place, flee to the devils he kept for company. Never had he meta man such as this." Grendel was afraid of Beowulf and felt sorry that he made a trip to Herot. He wanted to escape for Beowulf. Beowulf killed Grendel and no the warrior feld sad for him because he deserved what was coming for him. Grendel mother also deserved what happen to her also. The ending when Beowulf had died, i think that was sad his life was taken from all the good things he had done for people.

I think the story was an interesting story. I liked it. I think Beowulf was a mighty good warrior and fought for what he thought was right. The part that stuck out to me was when Grendel was scared of Beowulf and he wanted to escape and felt sorry he had came to Herot. Grendel killing so many people i wouldn't have thought he would get scared of Beowulf. I guess you look at things from an different angle when you are faced with someone that is stronger and powerful than you.

Reflect the Middle Ages

The literature i've read reflect to the Middles Ages because of The Black Death was happening all around. Reading Pardoner, it explains that a lot of people are dying and they wants to kill what is causing it. "There came a privy theif, they call him Death, who kills us all round here, and in a beath he speared him through the heart, he never stirred. And the Death went his wasy without a word. He's killed a thousand in the present plague. If you should meet him; you had best be wary." The Black Death is connected to Pardoners Tale because it is the causing of people death.

The Pardoner's Tale

From what I've read so far someone was in a coffin and someone wanted to find out who was in it. Someone by the name Death did the killing. "Who kills us all round here, and in a breath he speared him through the heart, he never stirred". This person by the name Death kills a lot of people and he doesn't care who they are. Three young rioters made a vow together to kill the Death and that they would be brothers and defend for each other. The three guys came upon and old man and asked if he knew where the Death was and the old man told them waiting under a tree. So they left to go to the tree and found a pile of gold.

One guy left to get them some supplies. While he was gone the other two guys planned to kill him for it could be an equally share between the two of them. The boy who left for town bought some poison for the other boys to drink. When he got back the other two boys did their plans and drink ed to poison for his killing and they also died too.

My experience at Georgia Institute of Cosmetology was okay. It was nothing like Empire Beauty School. Georgia Institute of Cosmetology is a very open place. When i first got there, they greeted me and asked what i was there for. I had to wait for at least about 20 to 30 minutes for someone to assist me. As i was waiting i was looking at girls doing a manikin doll hair and also an instructor helped a student make a wig for herself. The wig came out pretty good.

After observing them, i went inside an office and was introduced to the lady(i forgot her name) that was going to show me around the place. We walked around and she showed me all the stations where they do hair and shampooing area. And also where the student that still work on dolls do hair at and i think they only had one classroom. After that she had me sit at the front to answer the phone and greet people when they came inside if they weren't a student. They didn't have much business going on. Their prices were cheap compared to a regular salon prices. While i was there i didn't do much, just sat and stared at people do one another hair.

Prolouge to the Caterbury tales

THE KNIGHT: "A knight there was, and he a worthy man, Who, from the moment that he first began To ride about the world, loved chivalry, Truth, honour, freedom and all courtesy" (prologue). At a combat he always killed his opponents. He didn't dress well.

THE FRIAR: The Friar is less a man than the Monk. "A friar there was, a wanton and a merry, A limiter, a very festive man".

THE MERCHANT: He likes to talk. "Scholars have charged the Merchant
with gold smuggling or even coin clipping; but, although "shields" were units of money, they
were neither gold nor coins".

WIFE OF BATH: She has been married five times and she is one of only three women on the pilgrimage. She sounds to be a big woman. "I dare swear that they weighed a full ten pound". She make people laugh.

MILLER: "The miller was a stout churl, be it known, Hardy and big of brawn and big of bone; Which was well proved, for when he went on lam At wrestling, never failed he of the ram". He is a very strong man who like to show off that he is strong. For Example he breaks through doors with his head.

THE PARSON: "a good man of religion, too, A country parson, poor, I warrant you; But rich he was in holy thought and work". He was a patient guy and well content. He seems to be a good man that deserves more.

The Middle Ages: Crusades, The Murder of Thomas a Becket, The Magna Carta, & The Black Death

The Crusades began in the eleventh century and lasted several hundred years. The Crusades mainly fought against the Muslims. They wanted to recapture the Jerusalem and the Holy land from the Muslim rule. Every crusader took an vow that he or she was committed to fulfil as a penance. They were fought against those perceived to be the external or internal foes of Christendom for the recovery of Christian property.

The Murder of Thomas a Becket. The situation between Henry and Becket didn't go to plan how the King wanted it to go. Becket did not agree with Henry against the Pope. Becket and Henry argued about how much power church courts should have and they argued a lot more. In 1170 Henry and Becket made an agreement for him(Becket) to become archbishop again. Becket punished everyone that agree with Henry in their arguments and Becket was also criticising Henry in public. Henry didn't like that so he sent his knights to kill Becket. Henry walked barefoot from London to Canterbury to show he was sorry. Becket was made a saint after his death.

The Magna Carta. It require King John of England to proclaim certain rights and accept that his will could be ruled by the law. Magna Carta influenced the development of common law and many constitutional documents. In 1215 King John agreed to the demands of his barons and authorized that handwritten copies of Magna Carta was sealed.

The Black Death. "was one of the deadliest pandemics in human history, widely thought to have been caused by a bacterium named Yersinia pestis, but recently attributed by some to other diseases" (wikipedia). They thought it began in Central Asia or India and was brought to Europe in the 1340's. Black Death killed up to 30% to 60% of the Europe population. There are three different types the bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic and the bubonic was the most common seen.

11:30 a.m.--1:30p.m.

This past Friday, i went up to Gwinnett to visit Empire Beauty School. My appointment was at 11:30 and i was there a bit early than that, so i had to wait until the person i was seeing (Dana) was finished up with another person. While me and my mother was waiting, we seen everything that was going on. I thought the place was going to look like a regular school, but it was way different from what i thought. It was a salon up front and in the back was two class rooms, lockers, and a eating place when they go on break. Just about everyone within the salon part was doing someone hair, some were cutting, straightening, curling, perming, doing nails, and shampooing. The lady that was doing the perm was on the older woman hair for a long time. When doing a perm for a salon, it's suppose to take you 10 minutes.

After looking a the lady doing the perm, Dana who i visiting for my interview, came and greeted me and my mother and we went inside her office. She was telling me all about everything they do and how they help you when you are done with their classes. She showed me three out of the seven dolls i will get. The three dolls she showed me was man doll with facial hair, an Asian girl doll, and an black doll. Her point of showing me the dolls were their texture of hair and how each doll have a different type of hair that i would have to learn how work with. Dana asked me why i wanted to do hair and i really couldn't give her an straight answer because i really couldn't think, then she told me after the tour she was bout to give us, i should have an answer.

There were people in the classroom that was doing each other hair, and some were showing other the correct way of doing something. The classroom are like regular classrooms with desk, board, and of course a teacher. In the salon part of Empire Beauty School they had a place for nails, shampooing hair, hair-dryers, make-up chair, and a place where the hair styling goes down. Then we went back to her office and she asked me why do i want to do hair and i told her they was like a family, they worked well together, and it was something i always wanted to do, it's in my blood my mother and sister did hair and it fit my description of doing hair. I can see myself succeeding in hair and making people feel good about their selves.

Most Important to them

I don't know what was important to them because i really don't get the whole diary. Them losing a lot of shops and churches probably was important because they needed those place. Or the king not doing a lot of helping to put the fire out probably was important to them.

"from the Diary of Samuel Pepys"

He watched them hang Major General Harrison. He was there when they was deciding if they should let Charles Stuart be king. July 11, 1664, he thought someone was breaking into their house but then notice it was just their dog. "At last Jane rose and then i understand it was only the dog wants a lodging and so made a noise". September 2, 1666, is when the Great Fire of London took place while everyone was sleep and they woked up to see just about everything burned down. Churches and people houses(shops) were burned down.

A Modest Proposal

While reading A Modest Proposal, the first i didn't understand it at first, but the second time i got it a little bit because i understood what the message was. In the proposal the man was saying that the Ireland ate one year old. Which I'm pretty sure they didn't do. I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled ...”Irony was used as satire in this proposal, he exaggerated a lot in this, seems things in his own way. ”

Satire

The word Satire in my words basically means someone might be making fund of something or someone. I would take the word as an attitude towards someone you don't like or just want to pick on.
Satire used in school would be like a group of girls standing around and another girl that one of the girls dont like walks in. The girl that dont like the other girls might try to make fund of the girl just to make her friends laugh at her foolish act.

*The Glorious Revolution*

Reading The Glorious Revolution, which was explaining how the glorious revolution was discovered. When Charles died, his brother James II took the throne. James was a catholic so many people were not fund of that. Some people belived that the Roman Catholic set fire and caused disater to London and they were thinking about letting Pope run the country. James "queen" had a little boy and they went to France and that's when the The Glorious Revolution was accomplish. James daughter was nexted in line and her and her husband being childless, her sister Anne was next. Anne had many of kids but none of them survived, so Anne cousin George had to become King.

The reason why the event was so important, was because people didnt have to worry about a Catholic being on the throne anymore. People felt that Catholics were trouble and blamed them for everything that might had went bad. (Ex. London being set on fire and other disasters.)

Writing Four!

To Whom It May Concern:
The following dress code that the Clarke County School District is trying to pin on us as student’s called for. Those that are deciding on this do not know what’s best for us students. Only the student’s and teachers knows what’s best. If the teachers don’t agree with the new dress code it should not matter to Clarke County School District on what we wear. Teachers are the ones that see us everyday, not the board of education and parents.
One thing that I agree to is that students should come to school clean, but then again some student might have it hard and can’t keep their self clean as well as others. Some student’s parents can’t provide them with good clothing; they are probably having money issues. Clarke County School District is going to make it harder for the parent’s that do not make much money, because they will have to buy their children more clothes just because the school district does not agree on what they are already wearing to school.
How students dress for school expresses that they are and not who the school district wants them to be. The dress code that we have now is good enough; they don’t have to change it just because some student parents think other student’s causes a distraction. The parents don’t go to school with us; they don’t have to see us everyday. If they want the student to dress a certain way, then they should dress their own kids the way they want others to dress. I think if they don’t buy our clothes they can not tell us what to wear only our parents can since they pay for them.
Everyday when I attend school, I do not get distracted by what others are wearing or how they look. When I’m inside of my classrooms and someone with a tattoo, I do not sit there and pay attention to their tattoo, I do the work that should be done. Tattoos are not showing any disrespect to anyone. I don’t come to school for a fashion show, I come to show the teachers that I am here to learn what ever they want to teach me. This rule with the earrings is despicable, no hoop earring! Earrings are not hurting anyone in any unparticular way. Hats and caps, we already know we can not wear them, so that’s a rule that may stay.
If they take that new dress code in a consideration, the whole Clarke County School District is going to be ridicules. It is more likely more students are going to make the school drop-out rate even higher with the Clarke County School District stupidity on how they are handling things the wrong way. If teachers are fine with it and say that they don’t see any distraction in their classrooms, I think the Clarke County School District and the parents should think the same way.
Well to whom ever it is that is reading this, I hope you take a time-out and think about the decision you all are making and that it is not a good one. You people might not realize it but everything that you all are changing is making student think twice about their education because yall are making it harder for us to learn coming up with these crazy nonsense rules for no unparticular reason.

Zora Neale Hurston's "Sweat"

Her husband like to play little games on her that would scared her half to death. "Some day Ah'm goin' tuh drop dead from some of yo' foolishness". She said that to her husband so he could stop playing around with her and realize she is serious. "Ah been married to you fur fifteen years, and Ah been takin' in washin' for fifteen years. Sweat, sweat, sweat! Work and sweat, cry and sweat, pray and sweat!" By this Delia did all of the work and all he ever did was complain and aggravate her his childish ways and making her work more harder to do.

I think he treated her the way he did, because he knew she wouldn't do anything to him. Mr.Syke had the men talking about him and his business. That's not good for everyone to know your business, that makes Delia look bad because she's still putting up with. I would have left him by now, had me doing everything. They wanted to kill him for his ways. "We oughter take Syke an' dat stray 'oman uh his'n down in Lake Howell swamp an' lay on de rawhide till they cain't say Lawd a' mussy.' He allus wuz uh ovahbearin' niggah, but since dat white 'oman from up north done teached 'im how to run a automobile, he done got too biggety to live--an' we oughter kill 'im," Old Man Anderson advised."

He cheated on his wife for another woman and didnt care that he was cheating. "Ah hates you tuh de same degree dat Ah useter love yuh." This showed that she was fed up with and tired of putting up with his stuff. "Well, Ah'm glad you does hate me. Ah'm sho' tiahed uh you hangin' ontuh me. Ah don't want yuh. Look at yuh stringey ole neck! Yo' rawbony laigs an' arms is enough tuh cut uh man tuh death. You looks jes' lak de devvul's doll-baby tuh me. You cain't hate me no worse dan Ah hates you. Ah been hatin' you fuh years." Something like that coming out of his mouth i expected that, because he didnt show her any respect at all. He wasn't nothing but the devil.

"Delia, is dat you Ah heah?" He called for her to help him after all the things he had done and said to her and expected her to help him. I would have just looked at him. What goes around comes around and if it don't do that, it is going to bite you on the butt. That snake had him and she left him to die. Something he deserve and then again no one deserves to die, but that's how life is.

Incident by Countee Cullen

The "Incident" is showing how things come at you so fast with out you even noticing what's about to be done or said. When the man called him a "Nigger", he wasnt expecting that to be said. From him being exposed to that at the age eight, that's all he was entitled to remember from that very day. "I saw the whole of Baltimore From May until December; Of all the things that happened there That's all that I remember."

The Negro Speaks of Rivers by Langston Hughes

For this poem i think it was saying how he spoke on the rivers and how he flowed. Being by the river or within the rivers he was there when Abraham Lincoln went New Orleans. "My soul has grown deep like the rivers." By this he's saying that how ever long the rivers has been growing, he has been growing with it.

A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes

"What happens to a dream deferred?", the dream is delayed. Its deal with the Harlem Renaissance on why it was delayed. They keep putting to American Dream on hold i think. "Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run?" By this i think it is saying that they was putting it on hold and then they would get back to it.

Mending Wall by Robert Frost

It's about both of them having an Disillusionment because the writer thought that it was a bad idea about what them man though which was, He says again, “Good fences make good neighbours.” The man in the story didn't think anything was wrong with they way he felt and the writter didn't eith but really they were both in disillusionment because the only time they came together was because durning the winter the fence froze and durning the spring they came together to fix it back. Which means bad fences make good neighbor. This was only once a year when they came together to get this done and was working together which makes the good neighbors.

Richard Corey by Edwin Arlington Robinson

This poem is about Disillusionment how they people saw him rich and living the good life but he wasn't. Only hisself can see how he really felt inside from what others seen him as rich and handsome on the outside. "And he was rich—yes, richer than a king,And admirably schooled in every grace: In fine, we thought that he was everything To make us wish that we were in his place." He killed hisself because he wasn't living the American Dream as the people thought!

"Boys In the Hood"- Realism

A movie part of "Boyz in the Hood," that shows Realism is when Ricky Baker(Morris Chestnut)got shot when him and his friend Tre` Styles(Cuba Gooding Jr.) was running from so dudes in a car that they notice were their enemies. Tre carried Ricky back to the house where he had died in the sofa. The pain and action that all went down shows Realism within about five minutes of the movie. It was so real when they were just acting the part. Realism shown below in Action.(example)

-Wait a minute. Let's split up. I don't think we should do that. I think it'd be better if we're together. Them fools ain't gonna do nothing. They just showing out and shit. - I'll meet you at your house. - Cool. I'm out of here. Come on, man. Ricky! Ricky. Help me! Help me! Somebody help me! Ricky! Shit! Watch his head. Don't hurt him. Don't hurt him, man. Be careful with him. Watch his head. He's dead. Let's take him home. Mama! Mama! Mama! No! Ricky! Oh, my God, no! Not Ricky! What y'all doing now? Ricky? Oh, my God. Ricky? Ricky, baby, get up. Get up. Wake up, baby. Ricky, get up. Get up. It's all right. Get up, baby. Get up. Tre, what happened? What happened to him? Give me the baby. Give me the baby! Don't touch him! Don't you ever touch him! He don't need to be seeing this! Ricky, please wake up! Mom. - What did you do? What did you do? - It wasn't my fault. - What did you do? - Mama, I didn't do nothing. Oh, my God! What did you do to him? What did you do? What did you do? You did this! You did this! I'll kill you! You did it! I know you did it! You did it! Yes, you did! I told you! Oh, God! Oh, God! Oh, my God! Ricky, baby! Ricky!

"The Battle with Mr Covey" - Realism

photograph+detail=realism. Reading realism is much like looking at a photograph; they provide all the details so you do not need your imagination.

"The Battle with Mr. Covey", is about a man fighting with his home owner. In this story Realism was a bit real. It was like you was there with the man and Mr.Covey, seeing everything that happen between them."We were worked in all weathers. It was never too hot or too cold; it could never rain, blow, hail, or snow too hard for us to work in the field. Work, work, work was scarcely more the order of the day than of the night". That is an example on what and where the environment took place at. What kind of day's they worked on. Mr.Covey didn't show no heart for them working in different types of weather like that.

"About three o'clock of that day, I broke down; my strength failed me; I was seized with a violent aching of the head, attended with extreme dizziness; I trembled in every limb". That sentence shows how he was feeling and that he had no to strenght to do anything."I told him as well as I could, for I scarce had strength to speak. He then gave me a savage kick in the side, and told me to get up. I tried to do so, but fell back in the attempt. He gave me another kick, and again told me to rise. I again tried, and succeeded in gaining my feet: but, stopping to get the tub with which I was feeding the fan, I again staggered and fell". Him being kicked by Mr. Covey i could almost feel the pain. Things like that seems so real to me as if i was feeling exactly like that man was feeling. Mr.Covey was making him feel even helpless with the kicks he did and that hit when he hit him up side his head. I would have ran away too.

The things that Mr.Covey and his salve was going through was hectic. Sanders gave him that root and it did exactly what he said it will do. He didnt have to worry about getting whipped anymore. They had their diffences but it worked out. Mr.Covey didn't try to whip on him anymore and didn't tell the Master Thomas that the salve had hit him."This battle with Mr. Covey was the turning- point in my career as a slave. It rekindled the few expiring embers of freedom, and revived within me a sense of my own manhood. It recalled the departed self- confidence, and inspired me again with a determination to be free".

"A Story of an Hour"- Realism

"She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life. The delicious breath of rain was in the air. In the street below a peddler was crying his wares. The notes of a distant song which some one was singing reached her faintly, and countless sparrows were twittering in the eaves." The descriptive setting paints a picture in the reader's mind. It makes him or her feel like he or she is there in the scene.

"She arose at length and opened the door to her sister's importunities. There was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory. She clasped her sister's waist, and together they descended the stairs." She's trying to get over her husband's death, so she gets up and makes herself strong. She leans on her sister for support. Through the details of Josphine's actions, the reader can picture and infer how the character really feels subconsiously.

"There would be no one to live for during those coming years; she would live for herself. There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature. A kind intention or a cruel intention made the act seem no less a crime as she looked upon it in that brief moment of illumination." This is a social issue because she is living for herself, and doesn't need a man to support her. This social issue reflects on women's rights. There is no one around to tell her what to do or what to think.

In this story realism is shown by Chopin's use of description. It provides details so you don't have to use your imagination. She provides strong evidence which describes the details of how Josphine acts. There's also a strong picture of the setting and where she was.

About Edgar Allan Poe!

Edgar Allan Poe was a short storywritter, poet, editor, and literary critic. As early as the age of 15, he wrote these words in memory of a female acquaintance, "The requiem for the loveliest dead that ever died so young." He wrote many short stories such as Thou Art the Man, The Black Cat (of course), the black cat was about a crazy man that killed his cats and his wife. He killed his wife because she wouldnt let him kill the second cat he got after he killed the first one. And of course the police found their body when they went over to the man house. The Raven, which was about a lonely man whoses wife had died and left him. A bird and a/the raven was some things that were evil and i think they were trying to scare him. He also wrote a play and a couple of essays and poems.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His parents were actors. His father died around 1810 and his mother died around 1811 leaving three children including him. His brother William died young and his sister Rosalie became insane. They all were put in different homes when their parents died.

He attended University of Virginia (1826-27), but was expelled for not paying his gambling debts. In 1836 he married his cousin, that was 13 years of age. She busted a blood vessel in 1842, and remained a virtual invalid until her death from tuberculosis five years later. Edgar Poe had started to drink alcohol and used drugs. He had an affair with the poet Sarah Helen Whitman.

His best selling was "The Conchologist's First Book (1839). It was based on his friend Thomas Wyatt's work, which sold poorly because of its high prize". He suffered from depression and madness, and he attempted suicide in 1848. Three days after a drink at a party he was visiting to his fiancee in Richmond, he turned up in delirious condition in Baltimore gutter and died on October 7, 1849.

The way Edgar Allan Poe wrote all his stories, essay and poems was based on the things that he went through in his life. How he felt, i think he wrote it out in his short stories, essays, and poems. The two short stories i've read of his has been evil and weird in some kind of way. "The Raven", it was weird about the bird being evil, and it showed that he felt lonely once his 13 year old cousin (wife) had died. "The Black Cat", the man in that story was a crazy lunatic, what crazy man would want to kill his wife over something very stupid like that. That is just pure evil for him to have the heart to kill anything for no inparticular reason.

"The Raven" Edgar Allan Poe

In this poem it seems to me like someone is knocking on this man door and not saying anything. When he speak's they doesn't say a word. "But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping, And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door, That I scarce was sure I heard you"- here I opened wide the door;-Darkness there, and nothing more". When he said this, i am thinking no one is at the door. I'm thinking it is a ghost when he say's the name Raven and the only word it mention is "Nevermore".

("Respite- respite and nepenthe, from thy memories of Lenore! Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!"Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore.") This Raven thing, i dont know if it's a ghost or what but it seems like it is telling the main character to let a person by the name Lenore go. She don't exist anymore. That's why they keep saying "Nevermore," because she will never be there anymore. He want everything thing that remind him of her out. (im thinkin) That's how i see it.

In this story, i think Anti- Transcendentalist was showed when the bird showed up with it's evil ways and the Raven too. "Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil! - Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore, Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted".

"The Black Cat"

In the story "The Black Cat" was about a man that seem to be really crazy. In this book the main character showed how he related to Dark Romantism a lot, he was insane and seem to not care about what he did. From the beginning of the story the man seemed to be alright. He loved his wife and enjoyed the others pet's they had together. He had a black cat, which he called Pluto that went everywhere he went. Him and the cat was cool until he started acting different.

I think where Dark Romantism really start showing for him was when he started beating his wife and hurting the pets. He even hurted Pluto and that was like his bestfriend in my eyes and how i seen it, they was cool for several years until he started drinking alcohol. "One night, returning home, much intoxicated, from one of my haunts about town, I fancied that the cat avoided my presence. I seized him; when, in his fright at my violence, he inflicted a slight wound upon my hand with his teeth". After he did that he took the cat outside and hung him. The was pure evil to take you anger out on a cat. "On the night of the day on which this cruel deed was done, I was aroused from sleep by the cry of fire". Someone had set the cat on fire and threw it through his window causing hid curtains to catch on fire.

He then replaced Pluto with another cat, and strated treating that cat the same way. Just right before he was about to kill the new cat, his wife stoped him and that made him even madder. "I withdrew my arm from her grasp and buried the axe in her brain. She fell dead upon the spot, without a groan". That was real unpure and insane to do such a thing to your wife because she wouldn't let you kill a innocent cat. This man seemed to be really out of order and crazy. He thought a maybe nobody wouldn't notice nothing different. Well i'm thinking they did when the police came over to his house. The body of his wife and cat was revealed when it fell from the wall he had done a not too good job hiding them. This is all is a good example of Dark Romantism. It showed this man was everything that Dark Romanicism believed.

Transcendentalist or Dark Romantic

If i had to choose between Transcendentalism or Dark Romanticism, i would be a Transcendentalist. I believe in Transcendentalist because i believe in God and i ask for forgiveness when i do something that i wasn't suppose to do. I think that i am pure and God speaks to me. While i don't believe the human mind is the strongest power in the universe, i believe God is. I am not a Dark Romantist because i don't focus on evil but rather on the good things people do.

Edgar Allen Poe's

Edgar Allen Poe is insane and crazy, this is why he isn't a Transcendentalist. His stories focus on characters who were corrupted by evil. Many biographers argue that every one of Poe's stories represent something inside his mind. He had no good in him at all.

Herman Melville

Herman Melville didn't believe in Transcendentalism, because he wittnesses cannibalism and does not think everyone is good and pure. In Herman Melville book "Moby Dick," Ahab the main character is selfish, sacrificing his entire ship and the men on it in order to obsessively find the whale who eat's his leg. Ahab is not pure in mind or innocent, he believes in Dark Romantism.

Nathaniel Hawthorne's

Nathaniel Hawthorne changed his name so that he wouldn't be associated with his great grandfather who judged the Salem witch trial, hanging innocent humans and dogs for being "evil". Nathaniel was embrassed of his great grandfather's view of Dark Romanticism rather than Transcendentalism. Transcendentalists believed everyone was one hundred percent good.

Summary 1 on Diary of a Street Diva

The name of the book i am reading now is called "Diary of a Street Dive". In the beginning it starts talking about a how a man is feeling and he feels along like their is no one in the word he could trust, because his wife has died. The book doesn't tell how Remy the wife has died yet. Cease is the husband and he is a thug. He goes inside his wife empty room where she spent her time writing her book on her life, which she had a very rough one.

Cease find his wife Remy book under her pillow and opened it in the middle and read a little bit of her book. After he got done read that page he close the book and wanted to read more of her life because she never really told him about a pass, he knew she had an unhappy pass. Then his friend chrip him to come outside cause he had to be in court. Cease went to court for the death of his wife. When he got back home from the courtroom he open the book from the beginning and started reading it. When he was reading the book, he mention to hisself he remember her telling him that she use to be a stripper but he didnt know the men treated her how he was reading it. He wanted to beat the dudes that were in her diary Remy was talking about but he know he wouldn't have knew who they were. She was in a all girls group home and got the fighting with some girls that tried to accuse her(Remy) for stealing a watch. Remy roommate (Shay) jumped in the fight cause two girls was trying to jump her.

The day Remy had got to fighting with those girls, she asked Shay why she jumped in because they wasnt cool. That day and on they were cool and always had each other back. When Remy was two years old her mother packed her bags and left and her father. When she was in the first grade her daddy molested her and told her that he love her and it was their little secrete. When she was at school someone finally took notice because a first grader was bleeding like a grown woman because of her father. Remy was telling her story to a girl name Shay who she shared her room with in a all girls group home. Remy knew when she told Shay that most inner secrete she could trust her.

Out on a free day, Shay had her friend pick them up and they went back to a dude name Ant place. Remy and Ant started talking and he came and picked her up everytime she had her free day. And Remy had started stealing his money, and he had found out and him and his boys took her to someone garage and raped her.

Scenario!! (2nd one)

2. Chris, a college senior, has just been accepted to the best law school in the country. His parents, Sheila, his wife, and his brothers and sisters are very excited for Chris since he has wanted to become a lawyer for his entire life. Chris isn't so excited though. He has realized that he would rather be a high school teacher than be a lawyer. Chris would have to go back to school to get his teaching certificate.
Chirs' wife is not exactly thrilled with this idea since she has been looking forward to the salary Chris would make as a lawyer. With Chris' new plan, she would have to pay for Chris' additional schooling.

In a situation like this, i would choose the one that i really want to do the most. He went to college for law and then he's a senior about to graduate. And if he choose to become a teacher, then he would have to go back to school to get his teaching certificate. Doing that is more money being spent on books and for taking the class, which his wife probably will have to help pay for. The best thing i think he should do is just go a head and become a lawyer. Being a lawyer he will get paid more money than a teacher. I think in situations like this people should do what make's the more money and not less. He can be a lawyer for a year or two and if he don't like it, then maybe he could then go back to school and get his teaching certificate and he might can pay for it hisself from the money he got for when he was a lawyer in that short amount of time.

In this scenario it shows Transcendentalist by him wanting to do something where he see's the environment all the time. He probably was around people that teached a lot and caught his eye and made him want to become a teacher. Maybe God was speaking to him through his head and putting it in his mind that he might want to become a teacher.

-Believed God spoke through peope mind and their hard work.

"Resistance to Civil Government" by Henry David Thoreau

Men will some day be able to have a government that does not govern at all. The only time the government is useful is when it is stepped aside. Thoreau writes,"I think we should be men first, and subjects afterward." I think what he meant by this was that, they should grow into becoming grown men first before they start anything else. Some legislators and politicians don't put moral sense first and the one's that do are known as the enemies. He says that a person does not have a duty to eliminate wrongs. He say, "If I devote myself to other pursuits and contemplations, I must first see, at least, that I do not pursue them sitting on another man's shoulders." This is based on, he don't want to put his dirty and wrong work on another man's shoulder, he would rather it be put on his shoulders.

Thoreau writes, "If I have unjustly wrested a plank from a drowning man, I must restore it to him though I drown myself." When he wrote this part, i think God probably got into him to think wisely about his decisions and how he would react to them and take the blame upon hisself. "A wise man will not leave justice to the chance of a majority vote." When this was said it was a good, he thought voting was something that was important to do really in others words to me, he was saying it was a waste of time because it wasn't actin as justice.

"Self-Reliance" by Ralph Waldo Emerson

After reading Self Reliance what stood out to me the most was the line: " To be great is to be misunderstood", and "Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string." I also liked that Emerson believed in the highest mind transcending destiny. He believed that everyone should not be pinched in a corner, cowardly fleeing before a revolution. To me Emerson means everyone must be strong minded as well as stand up for what they believe in. A person has to trust him/herself and not let anyone else influence their decisions. When Emerson says that being great is related to being misunderstood, he means that some individuals are extrememly intelligent and therefore cannot communicate their philosophies or their ideas to others in a way that others will comprehend. Therefore, these individuals are misunderstood by people who are not willing to learn to understand them and accept their ideas.

Everyone should be self relient, connecting themselves with God and his teachings. When the highest mind transcends destiny, Emerson believes that God will speak to him through his mind.
The individual mind was connected to all others through what was known as the "oversoul", a collection of everyone's soul that we all share.
Transcendentalists believed that God spoke through people's minds and their hard work

"Nature" by Ralph Waldo Emerson

A man who feels alone looking towards to stars, he reads and write as no one is with him. In the book it also reads that few people don't see nature. They don't see the sun, but the sun shines into the eye and the heart of a child. I don't believe people is really paying attention to nature when it is in their face, they don't try to see it. "In the woods, we return to reason and faith," i think by this it is saying that someone being in the woods can see their reasons for being there and find their faith by communicating with God and relize that they are not alone. "Nature always wears colors of the spirits". I think nature is made up of spirit helping people get away from their peoblems and help them keep a open minded and free spirits, don't let anything bring you down.

So far in this story it is talking about a man in nature that relates to transcendenlist. "The rays that come from those heavenly worlds will separate between him and what he touches." To me this sentence means, what God speaks is separating him from touching what ever it is that he will touch. They also believed that God could communicate to people through nature and a persons intuition.

Picture!

The picture was showing beautiful nature. The artist was imagining a heaven-like place. This picture is showing his imagination and individual thoughts representing romanticism.

The picture is about someone reflecting on their emotions in the beautiful natural scenery. The artist is imagining a peaceful environment. It's how the artist views nature and represents his peaceful state of mind and serene emotional state. This is Romantisicm because the artist is not depending on his logic or reason to paint what nature really looks like, but rather, he is demonstrating another sense of beauty coming from his imagination, or rather another aspect of realism in his mind.

-imagination

-emotion and individualism.

"The Ropewalk"

The Ropewalk sounds romantic to me because he is saying he can picture fair maiden swinging on a rope looking beautiful. People appreciating their life. When the lady was pulling up water from the web and was looking at her reflection in the water. There was a boy flying his kite. These images portray romanticism because they are trying to find the meaning of life. They are experiencing and exploring nature, not just focusing on reason and logic.

Thanatopsis

What's romantic about this poem was that life still goes on when someone dies. When someone is put in the ground, they are growing into a tree, sand, and grass anything. As students in class was saying, the man was talking about mother nature. "She has a voice of gladness, and a smile and eloquence of beauty, and she glides into his darker musings, with a mild and gentle sympathy, that steals away their sharpness, ere he is aware". In the beginning of the poem, it's a happy mode then it gets into the middle a little bit and get's sad like someone has died. When someone dies, everyone would go back to their self and live a happy life like nothing really happened. "The gay will laugh, when thou art gone, the solemn brood of care plod on, and each one as before will chase his favourite phantom". The people probably know that who ever dies that they know are not coming back so why should they be sad for the rest of their life. Live happy and live everyday like it was your last day. Live life to the fullest.

American Romanitism

Rip Van Winkle. He was a descendant of the Van Winkles who figured so gallantly in the brave days of Peter Stuyvesant. He was a good natural man and he was a kind neighbor, and obedient husband. I think Rip Van Winkle should have stayed in his business more than he stay in others. I see he cared about the people but he should have cared about how his farm look and his kids. He should not have had his kids going around looking like they belong to anyone, that makes him looks bad, he should have been taking better care of his kids.

His wife constantly told him that he need to doing something and stop acting like he didnt care for anything. Everytime his wife would lecture to him, he would shrugg his shoulders and shook his head like he was listening to her, but he really wasn't. I don't think he should treat his wife like that, he should be listening to her like a husband is suppose to do.

I wonder how can Rip Van Winkle stay asleep so long without anyone checking to see if he was alright, if he was dead or alive. When he wake up his wife is dead, everyone in the village dont look the same and the whole environment around him is different because he was sleeping so long. The people was new to seeing cause he didnt know who they were. The people that had lived there when he wasnt sleep were all gone. I dont understand why would you want to sleep so long, missing out on how your kids would turn out, missing out on their childhood days. And your wife death, that has to be depressing for him, then again he probably wouldn't care since he never listened to what ever she had to say to him.

Writing Three!!

When I leave Classic City High School, I want to go to college to become a cosmetologist and also take a business class so I can maybe open up my own business containing my own salon. The classes I take at Classic City do not have anything to do with being a cosmetologist neither business. Well, I have already taken a few classes at Cedar Shoals that will benefit me when I was in the 10th and 11th grade. My goals here are to work very hard and finish up with all my work on time.
A cosmetologist is anyone performing manicures, hair cutting, styling, shampooing, makeup or other cosmetology services. Cosmetologists help their clients improve on or acquire a certain look with the right hairstyle and hair coloring, manicured nails or other things. Cosmetologists get paid very well, something I would like the most. Cosmetologists are people-oriented and must be able to inspire the confidence of those they service. Cosmetologists must keep on top of the latest styles and trends in hair fashion and beauty techniques.
In order for me to become a cosmetologist I have to maintain a high school diploma or a GED. I would have to check the licensing requirement in Georgia. Enroll in an accredited cosmetology or vocational school. Visit some of the schools to see which one offers the most combinations of classrooms and practical training. Look for internships at a salon that I can apply for to earn me a course credit. Be preparing for the state examination, which will be provided after graduation. After all of that is done, look through my school or which ever school I would be attending to for a job.
Albany Technical College is a school I think I would like to attend. On the web-site it looks to be a good school for cosmetology. It is close to home, because I don’t want to go too far, because I think I could get hurt. There are some crazy people in this world that would do anything to hurt someone. While going to my car or maybe my home, someone can snatch me or something. Albany also provides a Hope Scholarship, Hope Grant, and Hope for students that completed GED and so on. Uniforms are requiring if you are in the health programs and cosmetology. The tuition for a part-time student is $36/credit hour, activity fee is $16, registration fee is $26, student insurance is $4, and technical fee is $35. For full-time student its tuition is $432 and the same price for activity, registration, student insurance, and technical fee’s are all the same and that make its total for full-time $513. This is the tuition fee at Albany Technical College.
When I go to college, I also want to take a business class(s), so later on after I have learned everything there is to know about becoming a cosmetologist, I can end up with a business of my own. Instead of me working for someone else I can work for myself and make my own money. Having my own business would make me a lot more money than working for someone. My own business mean my friends and I could decorate the salon how ever we want to. Have things going our way and no one telling us what to do and when to do it.
Most of my friends and family I hang with, like to do hair also and we all want to go to school for hair. We came up with an idea that we can open up our own salon and in order to do that, at least one of us has to know about business. It would be better if we all knew about business, so we wouldn’t make any mistakes. I think if we all worked together and depend on each other and be helpful, we would do a good job in having our own business.
What I wrote above contains what I need and what I want to do to become a cosmetologist and own my own business. I think the reason I really wanted to be a cosmetologist, is because my mother does hair and I was always around her when ever she did someone hair and I also picked up my uniqueness for doing hair from her. Becoming a cosmetologist I would say, I want to finish what my mother started but also going all the way with succeeding in it. Doing hair excites me and makes me want to do what ever with people hair but making it look nice and making the costumer feel good about their self.

Declarations of Independence!

He made judges dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries. What this really mean is that the king is taking it upon hisself to appoint members of the court who had the same opinions of him, controling their pay roll, and therefore corrupting the sytem of England. This is an example of rationalist thought because the king is using his reason and judgement to rule England in his favor. He does not rely on God to pick his officers or help him rule.

He has kept among us in times of peace standing armies without the consent of out legislatures. He's keeping armies around England when there's no war going on, without getting permission from the legislatures. He's again is taking it upon hisself to protect England using his own judgement rather than relying on faith to protect his country. This is rationalism because he is reasoning that incase their is a war he will have taking the necessary steps to fight his enemies.

He has dissolved representative houses repeatly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the right of the people. He invaded people rights, he wanted things to be done his way and he determined what the right of the people were. This is an example of rationalism because he don't need God's help to rule the people. The king decides what his people rights are without the help of God. As king, he takes on the position of God, forcing his people to live to his standards and rules. He determines the rights and wrongs that his people must follow, rather than a higher being.

Rationalism is the belief that human beings can arrive at truth by using reason, rather than by relying on the authority of the past, on religious faith, or on intuition.

My 13 Virtues

1. Power- Take control of myself and don't listen to no one else.

2. Hardworking- Stay on task and do what you have to do.

3. Love- love yourself and others.

4. Money- to live comfortably and help the economy.

5. Sleep- get well rested, it helps your body grow and release tentions through having dream.

6. Respect- inorder to receive respect you have to give respect.

Power, i think is because i can control myself and do what ever i feel without anyone tell me what i should do. Inorder to succeed in something, i have to work very hard at it. If you dont love yourself, how could you possibly love anyone else. Money takes you where you need to go and get you what ever you might need, and money can also get you in trouble if you don't use it the right way. Sleep, get well rested so you will not be tired all the time and be more interjected. I like to repect people because i want to earn respect. My life, it's hard to trust anyone because people you think wouldn't turn on you, in up being the main one's.

Writing Two!!

Cosmetologist
Cosmetologist are trained to keep hair, skin, and nails healthy and in good condition. Some cosmetologists specialize in skin care giving facials, manicures, and pedicures. Cosmetologist can also provide makeup analysis, advising clients on the range of color works best with their skin tone. They help people look attractive and beautiful, and that makes them get attention from people.
Cosmetologists can have a very flexible schedule, and some may be able to set their own schedules. A cosmetologist might have to work evenings and weekends. Dome cosmetologists work part-time combining their jobs with family or other responsibilities. Everyday cosmetologists are exposed to chemicals to be used in hairstyling and nail care. Other may do their services at their home. Some use their knowledge to become sales representatives for beauty product, selling for also companies, or demonstrate and sell cosmetics, and skin care products in large department stores like Sally by Kroger on the eastside.
As a new beginner you would work with a licensed cosmetologist for 1 to 3 years before writhing an exam and becoming licensed yourself.
Admissions requirement for public and private cosmetology programs vary. You must be at least 16 years old, and in some states you may need a high school diploma. Licensing for cosmetologists is mandatory throughout the US, specific licensing requirements vary from state to state, but usually graduation from a state-licensed cosmetology school is necessary, followed by completion of a written exam.
A cosmetologist working in a salon can get paid indifferent way. By the hour, straight salary, salary plus commission, or straight commission. A full-time hair stylist can expect to earn between $17,000 and $40,000 a year. Some cosmetologists work independently by renting a space and equipment in a large salon or by setting up their own salons. Those who are just starting out may earn $5,000 a year, and a successful cosmetologist with experience can earn more than $50,000 a year.
Now that I have researched all of the information about becoming a cosmetologist, I still feel that I want to become one; I feel this way because, I love working with people hair and making them look beautiful. I like to do crazy things with people hair like giving them crazy designs in their hair with braids mainly and I like putting make up on their face. That’s why I want to become an cosmetologists and plus I have good experiences.

Writing One

The name of the book is “Chasing Destiny”. The book is based on different things like love, cheat, self-respect, trusting your partner, and violence. One person in the book uses the most violence.
There is a young girl by the name Destiny that is going through a lot with her parents. Her parents are suppose to be getting a divorce and it is tearing her up inside. Destiny let her parent’s relationship get the best of her which brought out all the evil in her.
One night Destiny snuck out of her grandparent’s house late at night to go hang with some guys she had met at the mall. When they came and got her, two other girls were in the car and one was talking bad about her. “I will beat a girls butt if she even looks at my man, let alone to step to him. I don’t play that mess,” the Chinese/Black said. That’s when Destiny beat that girl bad. She hit the Chinese/Black girl with her pocket book, which had a brick in it. Instead of Destiny fighting that girl, she should have just walked away and let the girl keep talking. Another thing she should have just stayed home like she was supposed to, then she wouldn’t have had that problem to deal with in the first place.
They left the Chinese/Black girls and went to a hotel. While at the hotel, they gave her something to drink and she passed out. She woke up the next day and saw things she didn’t want to see. Multiple boys were in the room and they raped Destiny. They left her there with no way to get home. She left the room hurting and the memories of what she had seen on the floor kept coming back to her; she was scared to go home. Her violence really started once she had left the hotel room. She was ready to take out revenge on everyone.
Destiny found the main people that she knew that had hurt her. She threw Clorox in one girls face. She found D’ Andre and shot him in the lower part of his body, causing him to go to the hospital. Since her mother had put in her head that Billie was trying to get their money, when she really wasn’t; she tried to kill her baby, Destiny’s father’s baby. She gave Billie some pills that would abort her child. Then Destiny found out the truth about Billie not wanting their money and old Billie about the pills, even though Billie really didn’t take them.
They was Destiny acted was very violent. I wouldn’t think a girl would let her parent’s situation bring her down to do a lot of horrible things. Destiny should have been strong and not let her actions get the best of her. It was wrong for the people she was with that night to have treated her like that, but to me she brought that on herself because she shouldn’t have left her grandparents house. What she did to Billie was also wrong she know she couldn’t have believed anything her mother says about someone who likes Destiny father. Destiny killed an innocent child that could have been her brother or sister, all because of stress and all the things that happened to her.
“Chasing Destiny”, you will understand all the violence it has in it. Destiny isn’t the only one in this book that dealt with violence; she is the person I chose to write about because I feel that she did the worst violence anyone else could have done in this book. She was fifteen going sixteen. I feel that she could have dealt with the situation at hand because she was old enough to understand that her parent’s weren’t happy anymore. I guess parent’s getting a divorce can bring a lot of kid grief.

Rationalist and Puritans!

Rationalist didn’t think God was the blame of everything, but the puritans thought he was. The puritans believed that everyone is born sinners. The puritans thought God chose those who he wanted to go to heaven. Everyone else would go to hell. Rationalist thought that human society was ran by natural law.

In order to correct their sins the puritans pray to god. Their only effort to fixs their moral corruption is by depending on god and not their actual selfs.
Ben Fanklin as a rationalist, took it upon hisself to come up with 13 virtues inorder to fixs moral corruptions. He takes up his only responsibilities coming up with his own morals instead of going by God. He tries to set goals for hisself. He is a good example of an rationalist.
The puritans are more about faith and rationalist is more about science and their own way of living, through the cause and the effect of their own actions. They know what is expected of them and they came up with their own way of fixing their morals without the help of God. Ben Franklin knew the difference of right and wrong, however he could not understand why he was still doing the wrong things. This is why he created the 13 virtures, setting an example for society to follow.

"The Puritans"

The Puritans believed that everyone was born a sinner. They believed that God did not just save eveyone, but rather only certain people. Those who were saved asked for God's grace and honored Him. Everyone else went to hell. God 's grace couldnt be earned or denied. It was freely given. Those that were chosen by God had the power to interpret His will. If anyone rejected the grace of God, he or she would be dishonoring his will, thus going to hell.

When the Puritans safely approached the land, they fell to their knees, thanking God. To Apostle and his shipwrecked company, the savage barbarians showed them no greeting. Instead, Apostle was met with an army full of arrows. Since it was winter, they knew it was dangerous to travel to unknown places. When they got there, no one was in site to help them with their beaten bodies. This was because they had no friends to welcome them nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather-beaten bodies.

In terms of how the How they got treated, i wouldnt want anything like that to happen to me. I couldnt live in the environment they was living on. Some people got thrown over the ship and the bad thing about that was, that they didnt do anything. That's not the life i want to live.

When the indians came around and the puritans was around, the indians would run away because they were scared. But one indian by the name Samoset wasn't afraid and stayed his ground and spoke to them in broken english and starting telling them about the state of the country in the east parts where he lived, and showed them how to raise corn. The Indians and puritans came together and helped each other out with things.

God "saves" those he wishes - only a few are selected for salvation. I don't think that is true. I think God save thoses that ask for forgiviness when they need it and thoses that pray. Nobodies prefect so everyone is going to do something they didn't mean to and ask for forgiviness. In other terms, God saves who ever wants to be saved. Jesus died for the chosen only, not for everyone. Irresistible Grace - God's grace is freely given, it cannot be earned or denied. Grace is defined as the saving and transfiguring power of God. Jesus didn't die for chosen only, he died for everyone. Who exactly is the chosen? I don't kno. And i'm pretty sure they don't know who is they chosen one.
